(Video Duration: 4 mins. 40 secs.)

A member of the Virginia House of Delegates, Betsy B. Carr speaks at the Rumi Forum and ATFA 2012 Dialogue Dinner to which a diverse group of guests including elected officials, leaders and representatives from faith communities, business, media and academia attended on November 28, 2012 at the Marriott Hotel in Tysons Corner, Virginia.

Highlighting the importance of the ideas and work of Fethullah Gulen, Delegate Carr later mentioned her trip to Turkey which "remains one of the most memorable and profound experiences not only of [her] ten-year legislation but of [her] entire life:"

"The Rumi Forum is certainly to be congratulated for the way that it promotes efforts in our world to peace through cultural exchanges and dialogues; carrying on the inspiring vision and work of Fethullah Gulen, it is a model for the rest of the world. [Fethullah Gulen's] philosophy and writings embody ideals of altruistic service to one's community and likewise to humanity in general, harmony between intelligence and heart, sincerity, a holistic view of the human, and a profound devotion and love of creation. Noteworthy is his support for democracy, science, dialogue and nonviolence. If the world followed all of these tenets, how could we go wrong, how could we not be ruled by peace, understanding?"

In this video, Carr also shares some of her impressions about Turkey and the cultural exchange she encountered three summers ago.
